Hi Stefan,

Picked up from surfing the forum that you are Zurich-based. I'm a Brit exiled in Zug with a passion for 1/35th AFVs, 1/48th WW1 & 2 Aircraft and the American Civil War.

If I may be so bold as to ask you a question, please ... namely are there any physical model shops in Zurich. I know of Peter Muller's in Basel but a) that is 2+ hours away by train and b) only open on Saturdays. Surely there must be one in Zurich ??

I have also just noticed the on-line EuroModelShop link that you placed a while back which is going to be very helpful, I feel.

In anticipation of your response ...

Best Regards - Steve Meyer

Hi Steve!

Welcome to Switzerland then! Seems we have some similar interests then!

Unfortunately I don't know of any shops in Zürich and I believe there aren't any. Müller and Euromodel are the best if your looking for AM stuff. However, if you like browsing and are looking for standard brands, such as DML, Tamiya, Italeri, Academy and some more obscure items in plastic, you might want to check Hobby Shop Hässig in Wohlen, which isn't too far from Zug. Drop me a PM or an e-mail for directions.

Also, there is a european Hobby shop directory on IPMS Sweden homepage.

Cheers!

Very Many Thanks, Stefan. Thought I'd get a quick response from the No.23 poster on this forum

Honestly, I'm amazed that Zurich does not possess a physical model shop given it's ranking in Swiss city leauge tables !! However, the one in Wohlen looks just the job. Zug to Rotkreuz, change for Wohlen. Piece of cake, thanks to Google & Google Maps.

To be honest, I have recently taken up getting my actual kits from the Far East because overall they still work out slightly cheaper even taking into account the shipping costs. However, there's nothing that can replace the touchy-feelyness of actually being able to handle the product, is there. Plus there's a web-site ordering facility, too. Excellent.

It would appear that Euromodel has a good range of AM stuff, as you say. Will order some RB Models barrels from them soon, I think. There's a number of w-i-p stuff I've got on the worktable at present that could benefit from them.

Anyway, many thanks for your help and advice - much appreciated.

Cheers - Steve
