Mike Ahey Publishing wanted to let us know, he has updated his new website with brand new content and progress of his recent projects!
I have updated my website and there are several new items. There are progress photos of the Hobby Boss 1/350 scale USS Alaska, CB-1 and I hope to have the Comprehensive series manual for this kit by the end of January, 2018.

I have also completed the kit review of the Trumpeter 1/350 scale USS Ranger, CV-4. This kit review is just like the one that I did for the Alaska. All the main parts have been removed and taped together. The kit review is in PDF format.

There are also photos of my completed HO scale, IHC Cheyenne 650 ton coal bunker. The model is finished with various shades of Testors enamel paints and weathered with pencil pastel dust.

1/350 SCALE USS RANGER KIT REVIEW

The HO scale, IHC Cheyenne 650 ton coal bunker is an interesting kit. IHC models are plastic craftsman kits and some of the plastic parts are a bit soft. There are no positioning tabs and the fit is below average. However, it is a great kit to learn essential scale modeling construction techniques and basic scratchbuilding. As with all of Mike's projects the first construction step is to remove all the main parts and tape them together. This allows you to identify fit issues, determine a construction sequence and decide on paint colors.

CHEYENNE COAL BUNKER-HO SCALE

The finished model was airbrushed with Testors enamels and weathered with dustings of lighter shades of the base colors and pencil pastel dust. The IHC box had two pictures of an actual Cheyenne 650 ton coal bunker and the entire structure was painted black. To make this kit stand out on a model railroad layout Mike used grays and various shades of flat black to paint the model.
